Garbage Collection in Powder Springs

Place your cart at curbside by 7 AM on your designated day to ensure your garbage collection in Powder Springs. In case of any constraint in time, your garbage cart will not be serviced, which could cause problems for you to handle trash. Place your cart in visible and open places; do not park your vehicle in front of any cart because it causes problems for maneuvering garbage trucks to collect trash. Moreover, place your cart at a distance of 3 feet from other carts.

Try to fit all trash material into a cart that is provided to you by the sanitation department. Place only closed-lidded carts outside in order to reduce litter. In case you have a lot of trash that cannot fit into your normal garbage cart, put all extra trash in bags or cardboard and call public works development to collect your extra trash as well. Charges for extra trash will be added to your monthly utility bills.

Collection Tips For Residents in Powder Springs

Do not place hot ashes in your garbage cart because they could melt the cart. If your cart gets damaged due to ashes, you will be charged a fine. Furthermore, place all your trash into bags and then place them into trash carts. This will ensure that all trash gets into the truck properly without flying in the air. In order to keep your container clean, wash it after every collection.

If you have trash that contains broken glass or mirrors, place all this type of trash into cardboard and then place it into a trash cart. This act will ensure the safety of workers who are responsible for handling your trash. If your cart gets damaged, then it is your responsibility to replace it as soon as possible.

Carts Repair & Replacement

The sanitation department will also repair your broken carts. Trash carts are the property of the city, and it is your primary responsibility to take care of them. In case of any damage, you are solely responsible to pay the cost and repair or replace your cart. If you have a damaged cart, you can replace it by calling 770-943-8010.

Powder Springs Recycling Schedule

Recycling trash will be collected along with your residential garbage collection. To ensure your collection, place your recycling cart outside along with your garbage carts. Acceptable recycling material includes paper, cardboard, glass jars, glass bottles, steel containers, plastic bottles, and plastic containers. Do not place any irrelevant material and plastic bags into the recycling cart.

Bulk & Special Items Collection Schedule

The sanitation department also provides special and bulk trash pickup services. They will charge a fee for providing special pickup services. Acceptable bulk trash includes couches, beds, televisions, swing sets, exercise equipment, basketball goals, refrigerators, freezers, washers, dryers, and water heaters. Moreover, disassemble the swing set and all big items before placing them outside for collection.

If you possess any of these trash materials and want to get rid of them, the sanitation department will facilitate you. You simply have to call 770-943-8010 to request a special bulk pickup. You can also fill out an online special pickup request form to schedule your bulk pickup.

They will collect your bulky trash along with your next regular garbage trash collection. Try to call the sanitation department to request a special pickup 24 business hours a day before your regular trash pickup scheduled day. Only two home appliances and four pieces of furniture will be collected per week, so do not place extra trash at the curb for collection.

Do not place any plastic bags along with your yard trash material. Place all small yard trash material into biodegradable bags and then place them at curbside for collection. Do not place any rock, bricks, and construction materials along the yard trash pile; otherwise, your trash pile will not be serviced.

Yard waste material limit is only six bags of yard trash that the sanitation department will pick up without any extra charges. The weight of the bag should not exceed 20 pounds. If you exceed the limit, you will have to pay extra charges. For instance, if you are placing 7-12 bags, it will charge $9.50. Similarly, if you place 13-20 yard trash bags for collection, it will charge $12.

Cut all bushes such as limbs and branches into a size of 6 inches in diameter and 3 feet in length. Your trash pile size should not exceed 3 feet in width, 3 feet in length, and 3 feet in depth. Only one pile will be collected per month along with your regular trash collection.
