Garbage Collections

Garbage carts will be collected every week. Prepare your cart properly and place it curbside by 4 AM on your collection day. Ensure that the cart is placed in an obstacle-free location. Leave a clearance of 6 feet on both sides of the cart and a distance of 12 inches from the curbside to allow water flow. Place closed-lid carts at the curbside to reduce litter.

Position your cart so that the lid faces the street. Remove your cart within 12 hours after collection. To reduce spillage, place all trash into plastic bags before putting it in the cart. Do not block sidewalks while placing your cart at the curb.

Recycling Collections

Recycling services will be provided biweekly. Place your recycling cart curbside by 4 AM on your collection day. Use the blue recycling bin provided by the city, and do not mix recycling materials with residential garbage. Residents are not allowed to put plastic bags into recycling carts, as these bags are not recyclable and cause problems in the recycling process. Place only empty, clean, and dry items into the recycling cart.

Acceptable recycling materials include cans (aluminum, steel, and tin), catalogs, clean aluminum foil and trays, clean corrugated cardboard, clean paper bags, envelopes, glass bottles and jars, ledger paper, newspapers, plastic bottles and jugs, printer paper, shoe boxes, and wrapping paper without foil. Do not place any irrelevant materials into the recycling cart, as they will not be collected.

Report Missed Collections

Sometimes residents may experience situations where their trash cart is missed during collection. This could be due to a mistake on the resident’s part, such as not following trash placement rules, or an oversight by the driver. Regardless of the cause, stay calm. You can report missed collections by calling (209) 835-0601.
