Auburn is a city located in eastern Alabama, United States. The City of Auburn’s Environmental Services Department provides trash collection services, offering weekly, biweekly, and monthly refuse services. Their efforts are dedicated to keeping the city clean and healthy by reducing trash through recycling processes. However, they need residents’ help to perform their duties effectively. By following the trash rules provided by the Environmental Services Department, residents can contribute to the city’s sanitation efforts. When residents obey trash rules, it becomes easier for the department to keep the city clean under the Auburn Trash Schedule.

Auburn Garbage Collection Schedule
Your garbage cart will be serviced twice a week. Place your cart at the curbside by 6 AM on the designated day to ensure regular garbage collection. Avoid placing your cart late, as it may be left uncollected, leading to missed trash collection. Try to remove your cart from the curbside by 7 AM on the same day after collection.
There are specific rules to follow when placing your cart at the curbside. Ensure the cart’s lid opens toward the front of the street, and that your cart has handles to make it easier for the automatic trash collection truck to pick it up. Use only closed-lid carts to avoid littering.
Do not overfill your trash cart, as carts with trash spilling out will not be collected. Place the cart in an obstacle-free area, avoiding parked cars, wires, poles, and mailboxes. To reduce litter, it is recommended to put all trash into plastic bags before placing them in the cart. Do not leave extra trash bags next to your cart, as they will not be serviced.
Auburn Recycling Schedule
Recycling collections will be done once a week on the same day as your regular trash collection. Place all recyclable materials in a city-issued recycling cart and set it at the curbside by 6 AM on your scheduled day. The city provides single-stream recycling services, so place all recyclable materials loosely in the cart, and do not include plastic bags, as they are prohibited.
Acceptable recycling materials include aluminum cans, flattened cardboard, paper (including junk mail, envelopes, magazines, newspapers, office paper, etc.), and plastics #1 through #7, such as plastic bottles and food containers, as well as steel and tin cans. Do not place irrelevant materials in the recycling cart, as it will not be collected. Ensure the recycling cart has a closed lid to reduce litter. Remove the cart as soon as possible after collection under the Auburn Trash Schedule.
Auburn Bulk Collection Schedule
If you have large items that cannot fit into a residential garbage cart and you want to dispose of them, bulk trash will be collected on the same day as your regular garbage collection. However, you must inform the Environmental Services Department before placing bulk items at the curbside. Bulk items include furniture, home appliances, and broken-down electronics such as televisions and refrigerators. If disposing of a refrigerator, make sure to remove the door before placing it at the curb. Only three bulk items will be collected per trip, so avoid placing too many items at the curb, as any excess will not be collected.
Auburn Holidays Collection Schedule
Certain holidays will affect the normal Auburn Trash Schedule. If a holiday falls on your regular trash collection day, your service will be delayed by one day. For instance, if a holiday falls on Monday and your regular collection day is Monday, your trash will not be collected that day. Instead, it will be collected on Tuesday, and the schedule will continue with a one-day delay for the entire week. Follow the schedule below to ensure your trash is collected during holiday weeks.
