Longmont is a city with zip code 8050-80504 located in Colorado, United States. The Waste management authority is trying to make the city of Longmont clean and sustainable. As a citizen you also have to play your role in making the Longmont environment clean by following some rules and regulations that the city sets for sanitation.

Garbage Guidelines For Residents

In order to check the pick-up days for your services you can check it on the collection schedule webpage. Place your cart at 7 a.m. on your scheduled collection day. Place the cart  in the street in front of the curb near the corner of your driveway in such a way that the handle of the cart is facing toward your home.

Alley collection customers place carts on the assigned side of the alley for collection. The arrow  which is marked on the lid of the container  should face toward the street or alley.

On drastic weather conditions like a windy day, it’s ok to place your cart sideways with the handle side into the wind in order to prevent spill before the collection team arrives. Place your container in a way that it does not block sidewalks.

Containers must be at 3.5 feet from the objects on both sides such as parked vehicles ,mailboxes and fire hydrants. Similarly leave a minimum distance of 2 feet between your trash and recycling containers.

Recycling Schedule

The City of Longmont provides single stream recycling service which means that you can place all recyclable items into one container. Do not place any material with plastic bags into recycling carts.

Acceptable recycling trash includes paper,  cardsboard, plastic containers, steel containers, aluminum cans, glass containers and glass bottles and metal jars. Do not put any irrelevant material into recycling carts.

Citizens of Longmont also facilitated a gray composting container with green lids, you can now put all composting material into it with creative mess in the trash cart. Accepted composting materials include food waste and yard debris so do not put any other material into it.

Missed collection in longmont

If you believe that your trash got missed, there are a number of reasons for this missed pick up such as due to national holidays that the city observed the trash collection schedule will be delayed by one day throughout the week.

Sometimes your container may not be picked up because you place it behind a large object and it is blocked due to improper setting.

Sometimes due to severe weather conditions such as snow and wind could lead to missed pick up, in this situation the city waste management authority will notify you about your new trash collection day.

But if your trash, recycling and compost waste was not collected due to any reasons mentioned above, please get in contact with city waste service to solve your issues related to kiss collection.

Bulk pickup schedule 

You can dispose of large items that do not fit in your curbside trash container for weekly trash pick up during the months of February to October, through special large items pick up service.

You can contact the waste service if you want to schedule your bulk item pick up. Waste service will charge a fee according to the number and size of items such as for 1-2 items, the fee will be 60$ and for 3 items the fee for bulky pick up will be 75$.

Yard Waste Schedule 

Yard waste including trees, limbs, branches, bushes, leaves and small amounts of grass can be disposed of at the Longmont recycling center. Cut limbs and yard waste to a small manageable length and unload them at the assigned area in the recycling center to reduce trash.

It must not include any other trash, no plastic bags or lumber. You can also get mulch made from tree branches from the recycling center free of cost, but the city can not promise how good it will be.

While grinding mulch it is not safe for you to be there, so you will have to wait and just ask the person at the window when I will be ready. During mulch collection you will have to load them into your vehicle by yourself, staff will not help you in loading because it is not included in their duties.

Yard Waste and limbs drop off fee 

Citizens of Longmont can enjoy the facility to recycle their yard trash by bringing them into the drop off station. In order to avail this opportunity to recycle your yard trash you will have to show your Longmont trash and recycling utility bill and identification in order to ensure that you are a Longmont resident.

If you are not a resident of Longmont you can also enjoy this facility but for this you have to pay a fee. Drop off stations will accept fees only in cash form so bring cash and check with you if you are going to take recycling service. Fees will depend upon size of vehicle and quantity of trash.

Trash collection service will not be provided by waste service on all national holidays that city of Longmont observe annually.
