Can You Recycle Cooking Oil & Grease?

No Never the drain, never the bin — collect and drop off

Why

Grease clogs pipes and sewers, and liquid oil ruins recycling loads. Many areas collect used cooking oil for biodiesel.

How to dispose of cooking oil & grease

  • Cool the oil and pour it into a sealable container
  • Find a cooking-oil drop-off — many fire stations and county sites collect it, especially around holidays
  • Small amounts: solidify with the fridge or absorb with paper, then trash
  • Never pour oil down any drain

Greener option

Strained frying oil can be reused several times before disposal.
