Why
Tires trap methane in landfills and are banned from them in most states. They are recycled into playground surfaces, asphalt, and fuel through dedicated processors.
How to dispose of tires
- Leave old tires with the shop when buying new ones (usually a few dollars per tire)
- Tire retailers accept drop-offs even without a purchase, for a fee
- Check for county tire amnesty collection days, which are free
