Garbage Collection

Your garbage cart will be serviced once a week. So, put all trash into a plastic bag and then place it into the brown garbage cart. Place your cart at the curbside by 6:30 PM on the evening before your collection day. Moreover, your cart must be at the curbside by 6 AM on your designated collection day. Similarly, remove your cart by 8 PM on the day following collection.

Place your cart in a location that is free from all obstacles. Avoid placing your cart near obstacles such as trees, telephone poles, and mailboxes. Place garbage and recycling trash separately. If you mix both recycling and garbage, then your cart will not be serviced.

Recycling Collection

Your recycling cart will be serviced once a week on the same day as your residential garbage collection. To ensure your recycling collection, place your blue automatic recycling cart at the curbside by 6 AM on your scheduled collection day. Place all recyclable material loosely into the recycling cart. Do not put any plastic bags into the recycling cart, as this causes problems in the recycling process. Place only a closed-lid cart at the curbside to reduce litter.

Acceptable recycling materials include plastic bottles, plastic containers, metal boxes, glass bottles, plastic with numbers 1-7, glass jars and containers, paper, and cardboard, which may be commingled loosely in the blue recycling carts. Residents are not allowed to put styrofoam into recycling carts because it is not recyclable. Add only empty, clean, and dry material into recycling carts.

Report Missed Collection

If you experience a missed trash collection for any reason, you can report it. If you did not follow proper rules and regulations to place the cart at the curbside, then the trash collection truck may miss your trash cart. Alternatively, it may be a mistake by the trash collection truck that it did not notice your cart, leading to a missed collection. To report these problems, call the Public Works Department at 262-653-4050 after 1 PM on your collection day.

Bulk Collection

The Public Works Department will also collect your bulk trash on your normal trash collection day. Bulk trash includes all those items that could not fit into normal garbage carts, such as broken furniture that you could not donate, mattresses, and home appliances. If you have this type of material and want to get rid of it, you will need to call the Public Works Department at (262) 653-4050 between 8 AM and 4:30 PM at least one business day before your normal garbage collection to schedule your bulk pickup.

Yard Waste Collection

Residents are also allowed to dispose of their yard waste properly. Yard waste includes grass clippings, branches, roots, and leaves. If you have this type of waste and want to get rid of it, you can bring all yard waste to the drop-off station located at 1001 50th St, which will remain open from Tuesday to Thursday between 9:30 AM and 2:30 PM.
