Town of Cary Trash Schedule

Garbage Collections

According to the laws of the Town of Cary, place your cart at the curbside by 7 AM on your scheduled collection day. Put all garbage into city-issued garbage carts. To reduce litter, place all trash into plastic bags first, and then place these bags into trash carts.

Place your cart so that its lid opens toward the street. Moreover, do not block sidewalks when placing your cart at the curbside. Leave a clearance of 5 feet on both sides of the cart so that the collection truck can easily collect it. Roll your cart back as soon as possible after it is collected.

If you have a large amount of trash that does not fit into a garbage cart, residents can call 311 to request a special pickup. Alternatively, they have the option to request new carts online. The charge for new carts is $4. Click the link below to get your Cary Garbage Collection Schedule.

Curbside recycling services will be provided every other week. Place all acceptable recycling materials at the curbside by 7 AM on your collection day. Acceptable curbside recycling materials include paper, flattened cardboard, plastic bottles and containers, metal cans, aluminum foil, and glass bottles.

Place only empty, dry, and clean items into recycling carts to reduce spillage. Leave a distance of 5 feet on both sides of the cart. Do not add contaminants or construction debris to the recycling cart, or it will not be serviced. To know your recycling collection day, click the link below.

Yard Waste Collections

Residents are allowed to place their yard trash at the curbside every week because the sanitation department of the city facilitates residents with curbside yard collection services. If you have a large amount of yard trash that cannot be disposed of through curbside services, you can bring all yard trash to the Citizen Convenience Center. They provide yard disposal services at no cost.

To ensure the safety of the collection crew, there are some safety measures that residents must follow when placing their yard trash at the curbside. For instance, place your yard trash by 7 AM on the curbside on your scheduled collection day. To know your yard collection day, click the link below.

Use a reusable 32-gallon container or paper bag to place all your yard trash at the curb. If you have tree branches and shrubs, cut all these branches into lengths of 4 feet and diameters of 24 inches. Tie all these cut branches into bundles, then place these bundles at the curb to ensure collection.

Remove all soil and dirt from the roots of grass that you are placing as yard waste at the curbside. If your yard trash contains mud or dirt, it will not be collected. Residents are allowed to place only 240 cubic feet of yard trash at the curbside. Do not exceed this limit; otherwise, your yard pile will not be collected.
