Garbage Collections

Use a blue container to dispose of all household garbage. According to Flower Mound regulations, place your garbage cart at the curbside by 7 AM on your collection day. To reduce spillage and help the trash collection crew, it is recommended to put all your trash into plastic bags before placing them in the garbage cart. Properly following the Flower Mound Trash Schedule will help maintain efficient waste management in the area.

The weight of the cart should not exceed 100 pounds. Important rules to follow when placing your carts include ensuring the cart is positioned at the edge of your property, with the lid facing the street. Do not block sidewalks, mailboxes, or parked cars, and leave at least 3 feet of clearance on both sides of your trash cart. After your trash is collected, roll your cart back as soon as possible.

Recycling Collections

Your recycling cart will be serviced on the same day as your residential garbage collection, following the Flower Mound Garbage Collection Schedule. Acceptable recycling materials include plastics marked with Numbers 1 and 2, cans, glass bottles, glass jars, mixed paper, and flattened cardboard. Do not place plastic bags in the recycling cart, as they cause problems at recycling plants and slow down the process.

Ensure that recyclable materials are empty, dry, and clean. If you do not follow these rules, your recycling cart may not be serviced and will be left at the curbside. Additionally, if the cart contains leftover materials, those items are likely not recyclable.

Bulk & Brush Collections

Residents receive weekly bulk and brush collection services on their standard collection day. Bulk trash eligible for collection must be no larger than 3x3x12 feet. Accepted bulk trash includes yard waste, appliances, furniture, and household items such as water heaters and toilets. If your bulk trash includes home appliances, make sure to label these items before placing them at the curbside for collection.

Residents are allowed to place up to four bulk items for collection each week. If your bulk trash exceeds the recommended size or requires special handling, you will need to schedule a special pickup by calling Republic Services at 817-317-2000. Special pickups will be confirmed for the next business day.

For brush collections, cut all branches into lengths of four feet, tie them into bundles, and place them at the curb. Yard trash containing leaves should be placed in compostable bags and left curbside for collection.

Household Hazardous Waste Collections

Household hazardous waste includes materials such as household chemicals, paint, and rechargeable batteries that could cause damage if not stored properly.
