Grand Prairie Garbage Collection Schedule

Your regular garbage cart will be serviced every week, so place your cart at the curbside by 6 AM on your collection day. Place the garbage cart in front of your property at the edge of the street, ensuring you do not block sidewalks. Put all garbage into plastic bags before placing them in the trash cart to reduce litter. Avoid placing sticky materials into your trash cart.

Position the cart so its lid faces the street, and ensure the cart has handles so it can be easily collected by the automatic trash collection truck. Only place carts in obstacle-free areas. Leave a clearance of at least 3 feet on both sides of the cart. Use only closed-lid carts, and do not overfill them.

Do not place extra trash next to your cart, as it will not be serviced and you may be fined. If trash is spilling out, the cart will not be collected. Ensure your cart is removed promptly after collection, and clean it after each collection to maintain hygiene.

Report Problems

If your trash cart is missed during collection or gets damaged, you can report the issue online. Use the form provided in the link below, fill it out, and explain the problem you’re facing.

Grand Prairie Recycling Collection Schedule

Your recycling cart will be serviced on the same day as your regular garbage collection. Place the recycling cart at the curbside by 6 AM on your scheduled collection day. Use only city-issued recycling bins, and place all recyclable materials loosely in the cart. Do not place plastic bags in the recycling cart, as they are not recyclable. Remove your cart in the evening on the same day.

Acceptable recycling materials include bottles, jars, plastic bottles, jugs, aluminum cans, steel cans, newspapers, magazines, phone books, and junk mail. Place only empty, clean, and dry items in the recycling cart. If you have glass items, take them to a nearby landfill station, as glass is not accepted in recycling carts. Do not place irrelevant materials in the cart, as doing so may lead to missed collections.

Grand Prairie Bulk Trash Collections

Bulk trash includes oversized items that cannot fit into your regular trash cart, such as broken furniture (beds, chairs, tables, sofas), mattresses, and home appliances. These items require special handling. To dispose of bulk trash, you will need to schedule a bulk trash pickup. Call the sanitation department at 817-261-8812 to confirm your bulk collection day.

It is recommended to schedule bulk collection a day before your regular trash collection. Once your bulk collection is confirmed, prepare your bulk trash and place it in front of your property. Ensure that sidewalks are not blocked, and only place acceptable bulk trash at the curbside, as any irrelevant materials will not be collected.

Certain rules must be followed when preparing yard trash for pickup. If your yard trash consists of tree leaves, place them in compostable bags before placing them at the curbside. For tree branches and roots, cut them into lengths of 3 feet, tie them into bundles, and place them at the curbside for collection. It is the resident’s duty to clean up any leftover trash from the street once yard trash is collected.
