A very important city in south Texas with a significant rich heritage is known as San Antonio. Solid waste management department provides disposal, collection and recycling of trash to residents of the city. If you want your trash to be picked up, you must adhere strictly to the rules and regulations regarding sanitation.
San Antonio Trash collection schedule

Waste management authority will provide garbage containers to put your garbage in, rates of garbage collection services will be dependent upon the size of your container that you have to pay along with your monthly utility bills.

Curbside garbage collection
Waste management authority of the city will provide garbage collection service once a week. So place your carts outside before 7:00AM on your scheduled day. Furthermore, place your cart in a way that their lids open towards the street and the wheel of carts must be against the curb.
Do not overfill the cart, don’t throw any trash outside of the cart because material laying outside of the cart will not be accepted. Close the lids of carts completely.
Leave a distance of 3 feet from other carts and bulk material while placing carts outside. Do not place your cart behind large objects such as vehicles, and static objects such as poles etc. and remove your cart as soon as possible when your trash gets collected.
Try to maintain the condition of your cart as you may wash your trash carts after trash collection to keep them clean and avoid odors and pests.
Missed collection in San Antonio
If your trash cart was missed, during your collection day, you can report it. Simply you have to call 3-1-1 after 5PM of your collection day to report missed collection.
Avoid refilling your trash cart after collection, if you are doing this and then report it as a missed collection, you will be fined for this act, you will have to pay additional charges.
In order to avoid missed collection of your carts, do not put any irrelevant material into carts, because carts having unacceptable material will not be collected.
San Antonio Recycling Schedule
Waste management authority of the city will collect recycling trash once a week along your traditional trash collection. They will provide blue recycling carts to citizens of San Antonio city to put all recyclable material into these carts.
Acceptable recycling materials include glass (containers, jars, Bootles) metal (aluminum container, metal food cans, aerosol cans) plastic (bootles, container) papers and cardboard. Do not put any unacceptable material into recycling carts.
Place your carts outside by 7:00 AM on your collection scheduled day. Place all materials loose into carts and do not put any plastic bag into it because these plastic bags could cause problems at the recycling end.
Material you are putting into recycling carts must be clean, empty and dry. Do not put lids of glass bottles into recycling carts.
Do not overfill recycling carts, and available sizes for recycling carts are 96 gallon and 48 gallons. If you want different sizes of recycling carts according to your recycling trash you can make a request for it. In order to request a different size cart, and report damage of a lost cart you can call 3-1-1 or 210-207-6000.
Brush and bulk items collection schedule
Brush and bulk item collection service will be provided two times in a year. Bulk item collection will be notified to customers a week before collection. But still if you want to know about your bulk items pickup schedule, use my collection day to estimate the time of your bulky items pickup date.
Acceptable brush material includes shrubs, tree branches, and woody vines. Similarly acceptable bulk materials include car tires, barbecue, carpeting, furniture, large appliances, mattresses, TV and water heater.
Do not put any other material into the brush and bulk container otherwise you will be charged a fine of 2000$ and you will also have to pay an extra fee for disposal of your trash.
Guidelines for brush and bulk items collection.
Place your bulk items outside by 7AM on Monday of your designated week for collection. The Waste management Authority will pick up your bulk trash within one week.
Your pile of material should not be larger than eight cubic yards in volume, and it should be positioned no more than eight feet away from the edge of the curb.
Place your bulk material in open places, piles should not be obstructed. Try to place your bulk items in front of your house on your property, because you are not allowed to put any material or item’s on empty and unused pieces of land that belong to others.
Additional bulk service
If you are having access to bulk items and you want to get rid of these items, you can book additional services for bulky items pickup. You can make requests for out of cycle collection to get additional brush and bulk collection.
You will have to pay a fee for these additional services according to the quantity of trash and size of piles. Once you pay the fee, the waste management authority will schedule your collection within two working days.
Household hazardous waste deposit
You are not allowed to put household hazardous materials into regular trash carts, instead you have to bring them into the household hazardous waste drop off center.
All materials should be kept in their original container, but in case of leakage you can only use HHW approved containers to bring these materials to the drop off station. Do not mix all materials into one bag to bring them into the HHW center.
