Garbage Collection

According to the Andover Garbage Collection Schedule, place your cart at the curbside by 7 AM on your designated day. Andover will not provide trash bins; instead, you can use your own cart and bags to place your trash at the curbside. Choose carts that weigh 50 lbs when full. Do not leave loose trash at the curbside; always bag your trash and then place it at the curbside to ensure collection.

Do not place your trash on your private property because collection crews are not allowed to enter private property. Place your cart at the curbside no more than 6 feet from the roadway. As far as the limit of residential trash is concerned, there should be four bags (whether you are using bags or barrels), and their weight should be 50 lbs each.

Recycling Collection

Andover MA will facilitate its citizens with a single-stream recycling process. They provide these facilities once every two weeks. So, place your recycling cart at the curbside by 7 AM on your scheduled collection day. If you are using your own cart, it is important to label your cart with 2 red recycling stickers affixed so the collection crew can easily recognize recycling carts.

Acceptable recycling materials include mixed paper, plastic bottles, plastic containers, aluminum foil, steel cans, tin, cardboard, flattened and folded boxes, food boxes, and glass bottles and jars. Put only empty, clean, and dry food boxes into the recycling cart. Do not add any contaminants into the cart.

If your recycling material contains glass, make sure that the glass is not broken. Do not add broken glass into the recycling cart. There is no weight limit for recycling carts to be collected during collection. Do not put any plastic bags into the recycling cart because they cause problems in the recycling machine and could slow down the recycling process.

Bulk Collection

If you have bulk trash and want to get rid of it, there are two options available to you. Firstly, if your bulk is in good condition, you should consider donating it to someone in need. If a bulk item is broken, you can dispose of it. Trash collection authorities allow you to place only one bulk trash item with your residential trash cart at the curbside every week.

Bulk trash includes broken furniture such as beds, sofas, loveseats, chairs, recliners, armchairs, tables, desks, bookcases, mattresses, and carpeting. If your bulk trash consists of mattresses, wrap your mattress and place it at the curbside. If it contains carpeting, roll your carpet into a length of 6 feet before placing it at the curbside.

Yard Collection

The town will allow you to place yard trash with regular garbage collection. If you have tree branches or leaves, place them at the curbside to ensure your yard collection. Put all leaves into biodegradable bags, cut all branches into lengths of 6 feet, tie them into a bundle, and place that bundle at the curb for collection on your regular garbage collection day.

Holidays Collection

Andover MA observes certain holidays that delay your normal trash collection schedule by one day.
