Cape Coral is a city located near Lee County in southwest Florida, known for its many canals in the United States. Cape Coral City has signed a contract with solid waste removal services to provide sanitation services to the residents of Cape Coral. They provide specific tin bins for yard trash and green bins for recycling materials. Garbage, recycling, bulk, and yard services are all provided on the same day once a week. Apart from that, residents should be aware of the trash collection protocol to participate in keeping the city’s environment clean and healthy.
Find Your Collection Day
Your normal household trash, recycling, yard, and bulk trash carts will be serviced on the same day. If you are not aware of your Cape Coral Trash Schedule and trash collection day and are looking for it, click the link given below. You will find a search bar where you have to enter your complete address to get your trash, recycling, bulk, and yard collection schedule.
Garbage Collection
According to your Cape Coral Garbage Pickup Schedule, place your garbage in the garbage cart at the curbside by 6 AM on your designated day. Place your cart at the edge of the road in a way that its lid will open toward the street and the wheels face the back of the street. Your cart should be free of obstacles when you are placing it, so keep a distance of 3 feet from all other carts and a distance of 5 feet from mailboxes, poles, and parked cars while placing the cart.
Place only a closed-lid cart at the curbside. If you have a lot of trash that could not fit into a garbage cart, then place your extra garbage in a plastic bag next to your garbage cart at the curbside. The trash bag weight limit is 50 pounds, so do not exceed it; otherwise, you will be charged a fine. Do not add construction, demolition, or recycling material into your garbage cart because these materials will be collected separately.
Recycling Collection
Your recyclable material will be collected on the same day as your residential trash collection. Place all your recycling material into a green cart and place it by 6 AM on your collection day. Acceptable recycling materials include paper, newspaper, mixed paper, metal cans, tin, glass bottles, glass containers, plastic bottles, plastic jars and containers, and flattened cardboard.
Do not add shredded paper and plastic bags into the recycling cart because these are not recyclable. Plastic bags cause problems in recycling plants and slow down the recycling process. Do not add any contaminants into the recycling cart and place only empty, dry, and clean material into the cart. If your recycling material could not fit into the cart, put it into biodegradable bags, label them as recyclable, and place these bags next to the recycling cart.
Bulk Trash Collection
Bulk trash material includes broken furniture such as beds, sofas, chairs, tables, mattresses, and flattened cardboard. Place your bulk trash loosely at the curb. For materials that could fit into the bulk cart, place them into the cart, and put all remaining bulk trash loosely in a free and open place.
You can also bring your bulk trash to the drop-off station located at the North Cape Government Complex, 1200 Kismet Parkway. This drop-off station collects bulk trash from Tuesday to Saturday between 8 AM to 4 PM. They will charge a fee depending upon the type of trash that you bring to them.
Yard Waste Collection
Yard waste includes trimmed branches and limbs from trees and shrubs, grass clippings, fallen fruit, leaves, weeds, and palm fronds. The city will provide a 40-gallon or smaller tin cart for yard waste that will be collected every week on the same day as garbage and recycling collection.
Place all yard trash into that tin cart. If it could not fit into it, use biodegradable bags to place leaves and clippings at the curbside. If your yard trash consists of tree branches, cut them to a length of 6 feet and a diameter of 4 inches, tie them into a bundle, and then place that bundle at the curbside.
Household Hazardous Material Collection
The city will also facilitate you in disposing of your household hazardous waste (HHW) material at the drop-off station. If you have household hazardous material, bring it to the drop-off station located at City Hall, 1015 Cultural Park Boulevard. The upcoming drop-off event will be held on August 5, 2023, from 7 AM to 11 AM.
Holidays Collection Schedule
The city will observe certain holidays that will affect your trash collection schedule. Your normal Cape Coral Garbage Pickup Schedule will be delayed by one day if you observe these holidays on your collection day.
