Garbage Collections
Your garbage cart will be serviced twice a week according to the City of Irving trash schedule. Place your cart curbside by 6 AM on the designated day to ensure collection. If you place your cart late, it may be missed. Be sure to remove your cart by 7 AM the next day after collection.
Certain rules apply when placing your cart curbside. The cart lid should face the street, and the handles should face the back so that the automatic trash truck can easily pick it up. Only use closed-lid carts; overfilled carts with trash spilling out will not be collected. Avoid placing your cart behind parked cars, under wires, or near poles and mailboxes. To minimize litter, bag all trash before placing it in the cart. Do not place extra trash bags next to the cart, as they will not be serviced according to the City of Irving trash schedule.
Recycling Collections
Recycling carts are collected once a week as part of the City of Irving trash schedule. Place your recycling cart curbside by 6 AM on your scheduled day. Ensure all recyclable materials are loosely placed in the city-issued recycling cart. Do not place plastic bags inside the recycling cart, as they are not recyclable and can disrupt the process.
Place only clean, empty, and dry materials in the cart to prevent litter and spillage. Acceptable recycling materials include paper, flattened cardboard, tin cans, aluminum cans, metal jars, plastic bottles, plastic containers, glass bottles, and glass jars. Do not place irrelevant materials in the recycling cart, as it will not be serviced according to the City of Irving trash schedule. It’s recommended to wrap cardboard in blue recycling paper for collection.
Bulk and Brush Collections
If you have oversized trash that won’t fit into your regular trash cart, you can bring it to the landfill at 110 E. Hunter Ferrell Road. The landfill accepts yard trash, including branches, grass clippings, brushes, leaves, and roots, as well as bulk trash like broken furniture, mattresses, and home appliances. The landfill operates from 7 AM to 5 PM and is closed on weekends.
Before taking items to the landfill, residents should follow certain rules. For example, wrap mattresses before disposal. If your yard trash contains leaves or branches, place leaves in compostable bags and cut branches into 3-foot lengths, bundling them for easier transport to the landfill.
Holidays Collection Schedule

If a holiday falls on your regular collection day, trash services will be delayed by one day.
