Garbage Collections
Garbage will be serviced every week according to the Nashville trash schedule, so place your cart at the curbside by 6 AM on your scheduled collection day. Your cart will be serviced between 6 AM and 5 PM, so be sure to place it on time. Position your cart with the lid facing the street and the wheels toward the back so the automatic trash truck can easily pick it up. After collection, remove your cart by 7 PM on the same day.
To reduce litter, place all your trash in plastic bags before putting them in the trash carts. Do not overfill the cart and ensure it has a closed lid. Place your cart in an obstacle-free area. Avoid placing it under wires, tree branches, poles, or mailboxes. Ensure 15 feet of clearance on both sides of your trash cart when setting it at the curbside as part of the Nashville trash schedule.
Recycling Collections
Recycling carts will be collected once every two weeks as part of the Nashville trash schedule. Place your recycling cart at the curbside by 6 AM on your recycling collection day, along with your garbage. Place all recyclable material loosely in the cart, and do not put plastic bags inside as they cause problems in the recycling process. Ensure the lid of your recycling cart is closed when placing it for collection.
Acceptable recycling materials include paper, newspaper, magazines, mail, food and beverage cartons, corrugated cardboard, toilet paper rolls, cereal boxes, beverage bottles, kitchen and bath bottles, and glass jars. Do not place irrelevant materials in your recycling cart, as the crew will leave the cart if they find any. Follow the Nashville trash schedule to ensure proper collection.
Bulk and Brush Collections
If you have bulk trash and want to dispose of it, you must schedule bulk trash collection services. To schedule a bulk collection, call 615-862-5000. Acceptable bulk materials include furniture, mattresses, tree limbs, small clippings, grass, leaves, televisions, and cactus plants. Place only acceptable materials at the curbside; do not include dirt, rocks, or concrete, as these items are not accepted according to the Nashville trash schedule.
Place your bulk and brush items curbside by 5 AM on Monday of your collection week. Maintain a distance of 3 feet between brush (yard waste, branches, clippings) and bulk items (furniture, mattresses, large items). If you have an alley, place bulk and brush items on your side of the alley along your property line. If there is no alley, place bulk trash parallel to the street in front of your property line. The pile size should be no larger than 10 feet long, 6 feet wide, and 4 feet tall. Follow the Nashville trash schedule to ensure collection.
Brush Collections
Cut tree branches and limbs into lengths of 6 feet, with a diameter no greater than 12 inches, and tie them into bundles. Place all leaves and yard clippings in bags to reduce litter. To ensure the safety of crew members, do not place glass materials with bulk trash. Instead, put them in a cardboard box (2x2x2) and place them at the curbside. Similarly, place cactus plants in a cardboard box.
Arrange your trash in a way that it does not block sidewalks or water lines. Trash collectors will allocate 20 minutes per resident for each trash pile. If your pile exceeds the size limit of 10 feet by length, 6 feet by width, and 4 feet tall, the crew will leave the remaining material. It will then become the resident’s responsibility to remove the trash within 72 hours, according to the Nashville trash schedule.
Holidays Collection Schedule
Certain holidays will affect your trash collection schedule, and trash will be collected one day later than usual. If a holiday falls on your normal collection day, your trash will be delayed by one day. This delay will extend throughout the week. For example, if the holiday falls on a Thursday, trash will be collected on Friday, and Wednesday’s collection will be delayed to Thursday. Follow the Nashville trash schedule during holidays to ensure proper trash collection.
