Scottsdale Trash Collection Time

Place your container at the curbside by 5 AM on your collection day in a way that the wheel is against the curb and the lid opens towards the front of the street. Remove your carts as soon as possible once your trash gets collected.

Place your carts away from obstacles that may prevent crew members from picking up trash. Place your carts at a distance of 4 feet from other carts, parked cars, mailboxes, and other obstacles.

Do not overfill your carts and place only close-lidded carts outside according to Maricopa County Health Department instructions. If your cart gets damaged, call 480-312-5600 or fill out an online application form to request a new cart.

Put your trash into bags before placing it into the black trash cart to prevent litter and odor. Moreover, do not place building materials, electronics, and household hazardous materials into residential trash carts.

Scottsdale Recycling Collection Time

The city will provide recycling service once a week along with residential trash collection. Similar to residential trash, place your recycling material outside by 5 AM on your collection day. Place only recyclable material into the recycling cart and do not put any irrelevant material into it.

Place all recycling material loosely into carts and do not put any plastic bags into them because plastic bags are not recyclable and they cause disturbance in the recycling process. Instead of plastic bags, it is recommended to use recyclable bags available at many local grocery stores. Moreover, place only empty, clean, and dry items into recycling carts.

Bulk Collection Schedule

The city will facilitate its citizens with an easy and convenient way to dispose of large trash material which could not be set into residential trash carts. They will provide bulk pickup services once a month. If you are looking to know about your bulk pickup day, click on the following link:

Acceptable bulk materials include furniture, mattresses, tree limbs and branches, small clippings, grass, leaves, televisions, cactus, and century plants. Only place acceptable material at the curbside for collection. Do not place dirt, rocks, concrete, and cement along with bulk material because these types of material are not accepted.

Place your brush and bulk items at the curbside by 5 AM on Monday of your collection week. Keep a distance of 3 feet between brush (yard waste branches, clippings) and bulk (furniture, mattresses, and other large items).

If you have an alley, place bulk and brush items on your side of the alley along your property line only. In case you do not have an alley, then place bulk trash parallel to the street in front of your property line. The size of the pile must be 10 feet long, 6 feet wide, and 4 feet tall. Do not put bulk and brush items in HOA common areas.

How to Prepare Specific Items for Collection?

Cut all tree branches and limbs into a length of 6 feet and they must be 12 inches in diameter, then tie them into a bundle. Place all tree leaves and yard clippings into a bag in order to reduce litter.

In order to ensure the safety of crew members, do not place glass material along with bulk trash. Instead, put them into a cardboard box of 2x2x2 and then place it curbside. Similarly, place the cactus plant into a cardboard box as well.

Place your trash material in a way that it would not block sidewalks and water lines. Trash collectors will allocate 20 minutes for each resident’s trash pile. If your pile is more than 10 feet long, 6 feet wide, and 4 feet tall, they will leave the remaining material, and then it will become the responsibility of residents to remove the trash material within 72 hours.

Household Hazardous Waste

Scottsdale will provide a monthly home collection of household hazardous materials. Only residents of Scottsdale can avail this opportunity. Each resident can enjoy 3 free-of-cost household hazardous collections per year. The maximum limit of these dangerous materials is 20 gallons.

You have to follow three steps for hazardous waste home pickup. Firstly, you have to fill out an application and you also have to explain which type of household hazardous materials you want to dispose of.

Then, you will receive a confirmation email, but you have to wait for a second email in which they will confirm the exact date of collection along with instructions.

Thirdly, place your material outside by 7 AM on your collection day. Properly label each container to identify its content. Your hazardous waste container should be tightly sealed.

The city will observe a number of annual holidays, but only these three holidays will affect your trash pickup schedule. Your trash collection will be delayed by one day if you observe these holidays on your normal trash pickup schedule.
