Garbage Collection Schedule

Place all material at the curbside by 6 AM on your scheduled collection day according to the Seminole County Garbage Pickup Schedule. Residents should use city-issued trash carts, but if they have more trash than can fit in the cart, they can place extra bags next to the cart. Note that residents must purchase their own trash carts, as the Solid Waste Management Department does not provide them.

Several rules apply when placing carts at the curbside:

  • Place your cart in an obstacle-free area to allow the hydraulic arms of the collection truck to access it.
  • Ensure the cart’s handles face the street for easy pickup, and avoid blocking sidewalks.
  • Remove your cart as soon as possible after collection.

Seminole Recycling Guidelines

According to the recycling collection schedule, place your recycling cart at the curbside by 6 AM to ensure pickup. The Solid Waste Management Department does not accept plastic bags, as they cause issues in the recycling process. Place all recycling materials loosely in the cart, and ensure only clean, empty, and dry items are placed inside.

Acceptable recycling materials include:

  • Paper and cardboard (e.g., pizza boxes, newspapers, magazines, office paper)
  • Aluminum cans
  • Plastics labeled with numbers 1 to 7
  • Glass bottles and jars

Do not place prohibited items, such as Styrofoam, in the recycling cart, as they will not be collected.

  • Waste Pro Service Area: Call 407-774-0800 to notify them of appliance pickups.
  • Waste Management Service Area: Call 407-464-0664 to inform them of appliance pickups.

Yard Waste Collection

Yard trash is collected on the same day as your regular garbage collection under the Seminole County Garbage Pickup Schedule. Acceptable yard waste includes tree branches, grass clippings, palm fronds, and Christmas trees. For tree branches, cut them into lengths of 2 feet, tie them into bundles, and place them at the curbside. Yard trash containers must be labeled “yard trash” for easy identification by the collection crew. Do not include dirt, sod, or construction debris in the yard waste pile, as these materials will not be collected.

Holidays Schedule

Certain holidays will affect your regular trash collection schedule. If your collection day falls on a holiday, services will be delayed by one day. For example, if your trash is normally collected on Monday and a holiday occurs on that day, collection will be moved to Tuesday. The delay will affect all collections for the week.
