Find Your Collection Day

Garbage Collections

According to the rules of Upper St. Clair, your trash carts will be serviced once a week according to your schedule. You can place your container by 6 PM the day prior to your collection day. It is recommended to use only city-issued carts. Do not overfill your cart, and place only a closed-lidded cart at the curbside. If trash is spilling out of the cart, it will not be collected.

Place your cart so the lid faces the front of the street. Ensure the cart is in an obstacle-free location so that an automatic trash collection truck can easily pick it up. It is recommended to leave a clearance of 4 feet on both sides of the cart. Do not block sidewalks, and keep the cart away from static obstacles such as poles, mailboxes, and parked cars.

Recycling Collections

According to Upper St. Clair regulations, recycling services will be provided on the same day as your normal garbage collection. Place your cart by 7 AM on your scheduled collection day. Place all recyclable items into the recycling cart provided by the city sanitation department. Glass recycling services will be provided every two weeks.

Acceptable recycling materials include plastic bottles, plastic tabs and containers, glass bottles and jars, paper, flattened cardboard, food boxes, aluminum cans, tin cans, and metal containers. Do not put any irrelevant materials in the recycling cart.

Clean food boxes and all recyclable materials before placing them into the recycling cart. Do not put plastic bags or contaminants into the recycling cart, as they are not recyclable. If you place non-recyclable materials into the recycling cart, your cart will not be serviced.

Report Missed Collections

If you experience a situation where your trash collection is missed, you can report it. To do so, call the waste management authority at 412-831-9000.

Bulk Trash Collections

Bulk trash includes items that cannot fit into your normal trash cart, such as broken furniture, mattresses, and home appliances. If you have bulk trash and want to get rid of it, you will need to schedule a special pickup by calling the waste management authority at 1-800-866-4460.

Yard Waste Collections

The city allows you to dispose of yard waste with regular garbage collection. If you have tree branches or leaves, place them at the curbside to ensure yard waste collection. Put all leaves in biodegradable bags, and cut all branches into lengths of 6 feet and tie them into bundles. Place the bundles at the curb for collection on your regular garbage collection day.
