Residents must place their trash carts at the curbside by 7 AM on the scheduled collection day. Use only city-issued trash carts for regular trash disposal. Ensure the cart has a lid; if it does not, or if trash is spilling out, the cart will not be serviced. Avoid blocking the sidewalk when placing your cart at the curb.

Place all trash in plastic bags before putting it in the cart. This reduces the likelihood of spillage. Position the cart so that its lid faces the street, ensuring it can be collected easily. Always place the cart in a visible and accessible location. Once the trash is collected, remove the cart from the curbside as soon as possible.

Henrico Recycling Schedule

Residents of Henrico County are provided with blue recycling bins for recyclable trash. According to county regulations, acceptable recycling materials include plastic bottles and jars (including yogurt cups and margarine tubs), metal cans (including aerosol cans, which must be emptied first), and glass bottles and jars. Do not place irrelevant materials in the recycling cart, as they will not be collected.

Place all recycling materials loosely in the recycling cart, and avoid adding plastic bags, as they disrupt the recycling process. If recycling trash includes plastic or glass bottles, remove the lids before placing them in the bin. Food boxes must be empty and clean before disposal.
