Once you click the link you can search your trash pick up services schedule by putting your address into the search bar or you can also select the first letter of your street name from the table to get your trash collection schedule. Similarly do select N and W for north and west streets.
Place your trash cart outside at 5:00PM on the night before your trash pickup day, and you also have to remove the cart by 11:30PM on your trash collection day. Similarly place your carts in a way that their lid faces the front of the street. Place only closed lid carts outside and keep a distance of 3 feet from all other trash carts and bulk material and at least 6 feet from vehicles, poles and other obstructions.
Norfolk Recycling Schedule
Norfolk will provide recycling services along with traditional trash pick up on the same day, but the recycling collection occurs only once every two weeks. Nortfolk will facilitate its citizens with two recycling drop off stations that work 24/7. They accept only those materials which are listed in 2024 curbside recycling accepted items list. These two recycling drop off sites are:
- Waste Management – 1176 Pineridge Road
- Towing and Recovery – 1188-A Lance Road
If you are having a lot or recycling stuff then you can request an extra blue recycling trash cart by filling an online form. Furthermore residents are also allowed to have two recycling carts free of cost. If you are facing any problem related to recycling, you can report it within 24 hours of your collection day. Electronic Recycling in Norfolk
If you are having electronic material that is mentioned in the electronic recycling accepted item list of Norfolk city, the department of public services will facilitate you to recycle all these items in order to reduce trash. You simply have to bring all these items to the transfer station on Tuesdays & Saturdays, at 4:00 PM.
You should use your personal vehicle to bring E waste into the drop off station. Five E waste items will be accepted for recycling on each visit, so do not bring more than 5 items in one visit. The Home Depot located at 1261 N Military Hwy and Lowe’s Home Improvement located at 1081 N Military Hwy also accept electronics recycling materials such as cell phones.
Yard Waste Collection Schedule
Norfolk will provide yard waste pick up services on the same day as traditional trash collection. You have to dispose of yard waste carefully as you have to cut all branches of trees in length of 4 feet and then carefully tie them into a bundle. The bundle of branches should not be wider than eight inches.
Put all material into a transparent bag. Weight of yard trash should not be more than 45 pounds and only 20 trash bags are accepted in one pickup tour. Don’t mix any other trash into yard waste and if you hire lawn services, they need to remove all trash that they created.
Bulk Waste Collection
Place your bulk waste outside by the 5:00 PM a night before your trash pickup day. Do not place any bulk material outside by 7:00 AM on your collection day. Moreover place bulky trash in a way that it may never be blocked by vehicles, trees, poles and mailboxes. Norfolk will provide a bulk trash facility to its citizens and allow only 12 bulk waste pickup per year.
You can only drop off four tires at a time, and you can only bring in a total of twelve tires in a year.If you are having access to bulk material and your bulk trash pickup date is too far, in this situation you can take a special bulk pick up appointment via online form. You must make a request for bulk trash pickup by 3:00 pm a day before your regular trash scheduled day.
Household Hazardous Waste
Norfolk city facilitates its citizens to recycle household hazardous waste, to avail this opportunity residents must have to bring household hazardous material to Norfolk transfer station that is located at (3136 Woodland Avenue, Norfolk VA 23504). This drop off station is open for the citizens of Norfolk on Tuesday and Saturday from 12:00PM to 4:00PM.
Norfolk transfer station will not accept lithium batteries like household hazardous materials, so if you are having trash stuff like this then you have to bring them into SPSA Norfolk Transfer Station during the specified residential hours above.
Holiday collection
Due to national holidays your trash pickup may be delayed by one or two days. In this situation you need not to worry because the waste management authority will adjust their trash pickup schedule to pick your trash and cover all holidays.
