South Fayette Collection Schedule

Garbage Collections

Put all garbage into the black plastic cart with a green lid provided by the city government. Place your cart at the curbside from 6 PM the night before your collection day until 6 AM on your trash collection day. Garbage carts will be serviced every week. There are certain rules you must follow when placing your cart at the curbside.

For example, keep a distance of 3 feet from all other containers and static obstacles when placing your cart at the curbside. This ensures the automatic trash collection truck can easily pick up your cart. Place your cart at the edge of the street in front of your property. If you do not follow these rules, your cart will not be collected.

Recycling Collections

Your recycling cart will be collected every other week. Put all recyclable materials loosely into the recycling cart; do not place plastic bags into the recycling cart. Place your cart at the curbside by 6 AM on your collection day to ensure your recycling collection. Use only a closed-lid cart at the curbside. If material overflows from the cart, it will not be serviced.

Acceptable recycling materials include aluminum cans, metal cans, plastic bottles, plastic containers, plastic tabs, and any type of plastic with numbers 1-7, as well as glass bottles that are not broken, paper, cardboard (which must be flattened), and food boxes. Do not add any irrelevant material to the recycling cart, or your cart will not be serviced.

Report Missed Collection

If your trash cart is missed during collection for any reason, you can report the missed trash collection to your waste management company or local sanitation department. Reporting a missed collection is essential to ensure that your trash gets picked up promptly.

To report a missed trash collection, contact your waste management company through their customer service hotline at 911. When reporting the missed collection, be sure to provide your address, the type of waste that was missed (such as regular trash, recycling, or yard waste), and the scheduled collection day.

Bulk Items Collections

Residents are allowed to place only two bulk items per month at the curbside on their normal trash collection day. These services are provided at no extra charge. However, if you have a large amount of bulk trash and want to get rid of it, you can arrange a special pickup by calling 800-866-4460.
